loopy art: Imagined, designed, and crafted by Dale Reid
THE BEST concepts I PLAY WITH ARE NOT MINE. MANY OF THE CONCEPTS I PLAY WITH derive from objects that ORIGINALLY SERVED A DIFFERENT PURPOSE. MOST OF THE concepts I PLAY WITH ARE DISCARDS OR TRASH. The best concepts arrive when unwanted materials choose to speak to me.
Polystyrene, formed protective cardboard, miss bent pipe, warped wood, damaged steel, foam packaging, broken crates, miscellaneous unwanted parts, flower stalks, stones, shattered glass, used steel cable, removed wrought iron doors, old forgotten barn planks.
Everything deserves consideration for reuse.
loopy is not just a name. It came into being when my mom, at 100 years old, said she was being loopy. At that moment I finally understood and with some satisfaction replied: "I'm loopy, too". loopy is my way of thinking and conceptualizing. Every loop, with its infinite possibilities, culminates in its own unique existence.
